What is the Snap Search Assistant?
The Snap Search Assistant is a helpful function that can be optionally enabled when installing several of Snap's toolbars and plugins. It is used by Internet Explorer to redirect the browser to a Snap web search page when any of the following occurs:- The browser attempts to access a web page URL that does not exist;
- The page trying to be accessed returns an error
- You enter a search term in the browser's Address bar.
How did this get installed on my machine?
The Snap Search Assistant is never installed without your authorization. It is not spyware, malware, adware, and does not contain viruses. Snap Search Assistant was installed on your machine because you, or another user of your machine, opted to install it while installing one of Snap's toolbar or plugin products. For example, a typical installation screen looks like the picture below you can see the Snap Search Assistant installation option.
Tell me how to uninstall the Snap Search Assistant
The Snap Search Assistant is installed as a separate program from any Snap Toolbar you may have installed. You can remove the Snap Search Assistant from your machine without removing Snap Toolbars if you wish. To uninstall the Snap Search Assistant, follow these easy steps:- In Windows, click the "Start" button in the bottom left of your screen, and navigate to Start | Settings | Control Panel.
- In your Windows Control Panel, double-click "Add or Remove Programs."
- In the list of installed Programs that is displayed, locate the program called "Snap Search Assistant," select it, and click the "Change/Remove" button, and confirm deletion. You may need to reboot your machine for the change to take effect.
- In Windows, access Windows Explorer (not Internet Explorer) by right-clicking your mouse on the "Start" button in the bottom left of your screen, and choosing "Explore."
- Navigate to your Program Files directory. It is typically found under C:\Program Files.
- Look for any of the following folders: MyPoints Visual Search, Snap Desktop Toolbar, or Snap Visual Search.
- Delete the folder from Windows, then reboot your machine for the program deletion to take effect.
